Inception workshop focusing on promoting the widespread adoption of Efficient Cookstoves (EPCs)

Today, on November 5, 2023, the Nari Chetana Kendra Nepal(WACN)organized an inception workshop at the Himalayan Drishya Hotel in Dhulikhel, focusing on promoting the widespread adoption of Efficient Cookstoves (EPCs) in Nepal. The workshop, held under the Modern Energy Cooking Services programme, sought to establish a sustainable supply chain and boost the demand for energy-efficient cooking practices across two districts ; Kathmandu and Kavre through the Savings and Credit Co-operative.
Srijana Poudel, President of Nari Chetana Kendra Nepal, chaired the workshop and outlined the program’s objectives, current context, and plans to the attendees. Deepak Gautam, Chairperson of the District Coordination Committee (DCC) was the chief guest of the program. Other participants in the program included Rim Bahadur Tamang, the Vice-chairperson of DCC, Shanti Ratna Sakya, the Mayor of Banepa Municipality, Kunsang Lama, the Mayor of Namobuddha Municipality, Bhagwan Adhikari, the Chairperson of Bethanchok Rural Municipality, as well as the Vice-Chairpersons of Dhulikhel and Banepa Municipality. Administrative Officers from four municipalities and one rural municipality were also present, alongside ward chairpersons, journalists, reporters, and representatives from all fifteen cooperatives of Nari Chetana Kendra Nepal. The speakers voiced their support for the initiative, highlighting the significance of government involvement in ensuring the accessibility of modern energy cooking services to all citizens, including those facing financial constraints. They further emphasized the potential of the program to create employment opportunities and foster economic independence within the nation.
