Savings and Credit Cooperatives
Traditionally, many women were prevented from undertaking financial transactions. However, through the savings and credit programs, women become respected in their families and communities because they are mobilizing large amounts of their own saving through these savings and credit-cooperatives. Still many women are out of the cooperative activities. It is very important to involve all of them in the cooperative activities and address their emerging issues.
Key interventions:
- Formalise informal saving-credit groups into legal cooperatives;
- Promote group activities like social support, information exchange, and economic solutions among women, girls, and disadvantaged people;
- Capacity building for promoting advocacy for women and girl rights in the society;
- Promote local resource mobilisation;
- Merge WACN promoted saving and credit cooperatives for achieving operational efficiency and improving business volume.
- Strengthen WACN cooperative network through various capacity building trainings
- Organize monthly interaction meeting among WACN promoted cooperative to share their success and challenges.
- Address emerging issues of promoted saving-credit groups and cooperatives.
- Institutional auditing and good governance training to WACN promoted cooperatives
- Expanding training capacity through establishment of training and resource centres.
- Organize strategic planning and visioning workshop
- Organize advance accounting and cooperative management training
- Replace manual accounting system in cooperatives by introducing software accounting in each promoted cooperative
